Social Media - Let me Drop-out! Course Unknown

We actually have a new junkie, the Facebook/Email/Online Chat/Forum posting junkie. They are disassociated with their normal day lives and live in side their own personal cyber space. Communicating with "What am I doing" blurts. Responding to every forum and popping up your ICQ/MSN/Yahoo M/Skype

This type of person is flooding the newsreel on your Facebook profile with multiple post an hr, tell u almost everything they have done, or about to do.

I actually think that FBAA (Facebook Addiction Anonymous) should be setup for these people. They need help! Or maybe they need a new outlet. Maybe a twitter like application that will ping out your buddy lists on your PDA or iPhone, with .. I just took a crap! Or I think i'm going to sleep under my desk.. please let me know if the boss is coming.

This type of person pops up your messenger as soon as your computer has booted. It's like your own personal cyber stalker!

I don't mind social media or social awareness. I just think that between e-mails, facebook, phone texts and phone msg.. I don't have the time in the day. Something must go, something must get easier. In a world of easy communication, I'm finding communication breakdown more frequent.

ROFL.. or LOL.. or KK call me bk.

In a few years, will electronic communication abbreviations be mandatory curriculum in school!

Well until then.. I guess i'm ROFLMAO!

Oh.. plz add any abbreviations in comments.. maybe we can start the textbook here!

What do you mean, that itunes song isn't 99 cents

So the economic change is upon us, and our music loving source the ipod and it's market place iTunes, has decided to try and dip a little deeper into our pockets. So will you buy that iTunes song for a $1.29, that the other day was worth .99 cents.

Its not all bad, the new pricing system, comes in a multi-tier approach. The 1st tier pricing, the stuff no one wants, will be priced at .69 and I guess you might find a bargain. The middle tier. The original .99 price tag will cover the generally still marketable product. The Hot n New, the just out and the extremely must have stuff, will be slapped a 1.29 price, a slap in the face to all you iPod hugging audiophiles. Ok...

I guess some of you will hit the internet highway in search of a ripper, to rip your content. Good for you! You go buy that CD and waste the money on songs you don't want, or maybe you will log in to your favorite P2P program and steal away a few songs.

What ever you do, show Apple that trying to gouge our pockets is a sign, they don't care about your financial situation. Aren't we in a technical depression? A global recession!

This really isn't news! But it was fun to rag about.

Thumbs Down on the FaceBook=Twitter ReDesign!

The masses have voted and approx. 94% feel that the redesign broke what wasn't broke, and I tend to agree that with this new layout and design, Facebook is less personal, and feels like it's trying to become the social Twitter it shouldn't become. The charm of Facebook is being lost in an attempt to see a streaming list of shout outs of people you've chosen to be part of your network. Sound familiar anyone?

Now remembering a Facebook of last year, yes the clutter of plugins was rampant, and it felt like a cluttered flee market, but the fact was that the page was a reflection of yourself. It displayed family photos and messages from friends and on a single page, let you know everything you needed to know.

The goal at Facebook with each redesign isn't about you, it's about them increasing page depth per visit. It's about increasing the page views(hits), that drive advertising CPM. It's about making more profits.

If you don't like it. Don't use it. It's the only way they will return to a single page aproach.

Is Apple Running The Risk Of An Anti-Trust Lawsuit?

When Microsoft bundled Internet Explorer into its operating system, and crushed Netscape into browser history, anti-trust lawsuits have plagued windows coffers ever since. The basic legal stance is that giving away software in your operating system that effectively cuts out your competition and stems innovationm breaks a bunch of laws. Now what makes Apple different?

Why is Apple special? Well until now, most of it's operating systems didn't have the majority in user marketshare, but the iPhone operating system is the Windows of the mobile smartphone operating systems. To answer the question. They shouldn't be.

Yes the iPhone 3.0 is an operating system, but a large amount of businesses are being cut out with each release of the iPhone os, and as Apple bundles in applications like cut and paste. They squash smaller companies into obscurity. Sure maybe most of these features should of been available to start with. Like the ability to tether your iPhone to your laptop to provide wireless internet connectivity.

Maybe if Microsoft turns Windows 7 into an app store only model, and creates a control application approval process. Then when they deny application insersion requests into their app store and bundle that functionality into future releases, thier anti-trust woes will go away.

We love Apple and Microsoft, but it really had to be said. Time will tell, if a double standard exists. Does Apple have the legal right to block Jailbreakers, and sqaush 3rd party developers?

Now,they should of ran with it, even if things got explosive, mind the pun! It's smart and totally fun. The folks over in Cupertino, know how to poke fun anyways.

Get Smart with LG, Your Mission Impossible, Bond Wannabe Cellphone.

The Mobile World Congress, did showcase some different things this year and the tops for my agent wannabe list, is the "Get Smart" LG Watch Phone, yes Get Smart is my nickname for this thing, as if you add the blue tooth headset, you can act like you are talking to agent 99. It's every James Bond, Spy loving, FBI agent fanatics dream come true.

The LG GD910 Watch phone was first showcased at CES 2008, but it wasn't until this year that is wasn't behind glass. it's face is made of tempered glass, with a high-quality metal casing, and is around 13.9mm thick. The touch screen itself is 1.43 inches diagonally, and features LG's Flash interface. Features include voice recognition, Text to Speech so it can read out text messages, and stereo Bluetooth, sadly it won't be State side any time soon, it a UK release as it's not compatible with the North American cellular network just yet....Oh.. This message will self-destruct!

Techcrunch are full of sh##!". http://twitter.com/lastfm, the basic message is that the story the TechCrunch ran on friday about Last.fm handing over subscriber data to RIAA, in the search for the U2 album pirating issue was a made up rumor. Last.fm has blogged it! They have tweeted it! They have had press conferences about it!

So anyways.. Let's all just get back to listening to good music and supporting our favorite artists with the occasional album purchase and maybe we can all get on with our lives!

The Ghost in the Blackberry

Vibranxiety, Phantom BlackBerry Vibration Syndrome

It’s been about twenty years or more, I guess, that I’ve had some sort of vibrating device hooked on to my belt on a daily basis. I’m sure like most people, the rituals of putting these on, means they are always on the same side out of habit. With out warning the phantom strikes and the phenomenon known as phantom vibration syndrome, better known as Crackberry Addiction happens, sending me to check my phone, to realize, there was never a call to begin with. Oh, this isn’t new news, it’s been reported over the years, but never extensively studied.

Is this cellphone anxiety, or is the beginning of some neurological problem that has yet to surface. Does anyone really know what the long term effects of constant device wearing, will cause.

Some call it Phantom Vibration Syndrome; some have coined the term “vibranxiety”. I just can’t wait until phantom touching happens, seeing how people also report that they hear the ring tones, as well, when it never rang… It’s a strange mobile addicted world we live in.

iPhones future may be now

Apple will announce today the iPhones SDK and Enterprise roadmap, baring any delays (we hope). Rumor is. well that it's not everything it could be and well, the only way you'll get you're developed app onto the iPhone is if it's sold via iTunes. Sounds like more of a iPhone widget SDK then a full blown SDK. Let's hope something shook up and this morning brings an open development platform... Thats most likely never going to happen, Jobs is too much of a control freak to every open Pandoras box.

Imagine applications that edit movies, play any movie file! Integrate the iPhone into corporate databases, and so on. Could an application that tells you when you walk into a club or a bar, which friends are there before you even find them be in the future, the here and now.

Today at 10 PST, the future iPhone application roadmap becomes the present. We wait and hope!

Gen X+Y=Z... What's a CD? - iTunes catching Walmart

Apple Store
Most of the kids these days don't even remember the Sony Walkman Sport, when the waterproof cassette player and its yellow sports headphones was the cool thing to own. Most of them don't know what is was like to carry around a portable CD player and endure it skipping over and over as you walked. Now it seems that most of them don't know that music comes on CD's and that you can buy it from a music store. Well, that last statement isn't completely true, it seems that Walmart still leads at the #1 spot for music sales, and right behind them is iTunes.
Apple Online Store

Eventually as MP3, WMV and MPA playing devices invade the home and the Wifi networks communicate with more and more entertainment equipment, CD's will go the way of the Cassette and the DoDo Birds before them. iTunes and other online music retailers will pass Walmart in music sales. The future is so digital it’s scary.

Is Apple dropping the Gamer Ball?

Is not releasing an SDK smart?
At least to a core set of developers. Lets face it, if you own a iPhone or and iPod Touch you are pretty much rail roaded into using iTunes for good or bad. Now wouldn't an actual games section in the iTunes store (iGames) be something that the iPhone and iPod Touch owners just eat up. Actual games not developed to run in Safari? I'm sure Apple could work with some of the major game studios to develop some amazing game downloads. Every one would be running out to buy a game controller and maybe even myvu glasses to enhance the game display.

I'm not saying that developing games in Safari HTML (development center) is horrible. Just limiting! One big issue an SDK release from Apple could cause, a DIVx video player might get developed. I'm sure that iTunes managers cringe at the idea that a player that could play something other than MP4(AAC) files might cut into iTunes sales. I think that if someone wants DIVX on the iphone, it's becuase they don't want to convert the file they got from some other place. They most likely only use iTunes to sync the files anyways.

Iphone - iGirl or iWash i'm feeling dirty!

http://www.clubwesttv.com/ - iWash

to Download the file..just right click above link and Save link as.

1) Synchronizing iVirtuaGirl
Right click on the link above, choose "Save As" and download the video.Double-click on it. iTunes will open and play it.Put your iPhone in the cradle until above sync window shows up.Go to the video tab. Check the box that says iVirtuaGirl_VickyS . Sync your iPhone.

2) Performing iVirtuaGirl
Click the home button on your iPhone. Click the iPod button (bottom right). Hit “videos”. Select iVirtuaGirl_VickyS. You’ll be playing a video. You’ll see a fake home screen (all part of the video) for 5 seconds. Now is a good time to show the screen and tell someone that this thing is voice activated by saying “Stripper”. Once your victim yells “Stripper” the show starts.

Even better yet!! Get VirtualGirl for you're desktop and they dance all day!! Get more Girls and iGirls now! Always updated, Always more girls

From Uncovered search results, I've notice a lot of people trying to find iGirl or iWash. Both of these two movie clips are funny little . Play on your iPhone as movies. These are not screen savers, and you probably won't see them as such, until iPhone SDK is release. Still really funny!

It does bring up the interesting point, what will they think of next. Is the iPhone going to be littered with porn clips? With the SDK upcoming release, will the iPhone and iPod Touch become the next portable gaming platform.

The iPhone has just claimed "Most used" platform for mobile web searches, and that says that the public views this device as portable media access device over just a plain old cell phone.

So why doesn't someone develope an iPet, so I have something else to look after!

80 and want an iPod - It won't kill you.

Maybe it will if you're listening to it and fall over and hit the ground, and can't find you're emergency call button! "I've fallen and can't get up".. Or maybe you're jogging listening to you're iPod. At 80 .. that might kill you..

Ok seriously... "[ Washington Reuters News Service, 1 February 2008 ] - Portable media players such as iPods are unlikely to interfere with heart pacemakers, a US Food and Drug Administration researcher reported yesterday.

FDA researcher Howard Bassen and colleagues set up a complex experiment using a saline-filled bag to simulate the human body and a coil sensor designed to pick up electromagnetic emissions.
They measured the magnetic fields produced by four different iPod models: a fourth-generation iPod and an iPod with video, and an iPod nano and an iPod shuffle. They also measured the voltages delivered to the inside of the pacemaker by the magnetic fields from the iPods.

All their measurements indicated the iPods could not affect cardiac pacemakers, they reported in the journal BioMedical Engineering OnLine." Read more @ Itweb.

So maybe if you have you're iPod, iPhone turned on, hooked into your technology package upgrade in your new commuter car. You'd better make sure that you don't get near a coffee shop with a wifi hotspot.. you might not be safe. I know that they need to test this stuff, but it's still a little silly that somebody probably has a law suit against Apple, claiming that there iPod gave them a heart attack.

What to do! Find an old episode to watch.

Since the writer strike began, I really didn’t pay much attention, as it gets further into the New Year, I’m starting to understand why the general public is looking for a way to stream television shows of favorite episodes or shows that they hadn’t seen. Why! Because the re-runs on TV are too fresh, just been seen episodes.

I totally understand how people refuse to pay large amounts of money to download from iTunes or Unbox. One would think that if these companies set a monthly fee or a package deal on lets say per 10 episodes, credits lets say. Maybe more people would choose legal downloading over sharing systems.

I’m sure by now everyone’s Tivo needs a break; our wallets are starting to bleed. The TV re-runs are sending us into a coma! Its about time someone thinks that if you can get unlimited TV for a dollar amount with your cable company, maybe there needs to be a section on iTunes or Unbox that allows for controlled fresh content that we could pay a reasonable amount per month. If I watch 3 hours of TV a night on iTunes at approx $2 an hour, I’m looking at $6 a night $42 a week, excuse me… $168 a month (approx). I don’t pay that for cable…

Ok, so if I need a one off episode or movie, I might think about it!

Thin is in! Will Apple set the new laptop trend again?

APPLE AIR - THIN

Apple has be setting design standards with innovative designs for decades, many say that the removal of the floppy drive was initiated by Apples removal of the drive around 1999 when the iBook came out. Over the past few years companies have been scrambling to catch up, let’s look at Dell. This year they have entered into the mass-market chains (Walmart, Best-Buy, Staples, etc.). Their whole campaign and designs are around personalization. Who does that sound like?

Now if you realize that Apple designs are about pushing the envelope (Mind the pun) then Thin is in! With the announcement of the Apple Air, a couple of design standards will need to be re-thought. The Air isn’t just Thin! Light! And about style! What will probably become standard in the next couple of years in all laptop designs; will be the incorporation of a backlit keyboard. Also the removal of the DVD drive to an external resource. It’s also believed that the AIR (Apple naming convention for the wireless components i.e. AIRPORT), is the reason the DVD drive is external, and the move to a large use in Wifi technology is ahead.

Okay, the Apple AIR will probably not sell a huge amount of units in the next few months, but it is attractive as an option for students and business people looking for the compact laptop.

Amazon pre-sales state the AIR will ship around Feb. 1. 2008, and you can already pre-order with them or at the Apple store.
